Surrey has plenty of high-quality, valuable housing, but homes across the county that aren’t properly insulated can lose a considerable amount of heat via their walls and roofs.
About a quarter of the heat generated to keep your house warm can be lost through your roof if you lack loft insulation, and up to a third can escape via the walls without cavity or solid wall insulation.
The savings you can make against the cost of insulation can be considerable, meaning that your initial investment could be paid back many times over throughout the lifetime of your property. Also, thanks to Green Deal, the government’s energy efficiency initiative, you may not even have to find the upfront costs to get started.
How does Green Deal work?
Launched in 2013, Green Deal is a scheme designed to help people meet the expense associated with energy-saving measures such as cavity wall insulation. It can provide people with access to funding for some or all of the installation costs of the projects.
The cost of the loan, plus interest repayments, is paid back through electricity bills and is tied to the property, not the homeowner. The process starts with a survey undertaken by an accredited Green Deal assessor. We have over 250 of these assessors across our network.
